Curriculum Vitae

Giuliana Turi joined ETH Sustainability in June 2022 and is the project manager for the ETH Air Travel Project. Giuliana has a background in climate and environmental science with a focus on the impacts of climate change on cryospheric and oceanic environments.

After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Physics in 2007 from the University of Basel, she enrolled at ETH Zürich, where she earned her Master’s degree in Atmospheric and Climate Science in 2009. For her master’s thesis, she investigated the flow behavior of the Rhone Glacier in the canton of Valais. In 2014, Giuliana was awarded a PhD degree from the Department for Environmental Systems Science (D-USYS) for her thesis on modeling recent trends and variability in the oceanic carbon cycle of the California Current System. Between 2015 and 2021, Giuliana resided in Colorado, USA, where she worked in various capacities at different organizations, including as a postdoctoral research associate at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), a lecturer at the University of Colorado Boulder, and a technical writer / project manager at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC). After her return to Switzerland and prior to her current position at ETH Zürich, she worked as a scientific officer at the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), where she supported grant applicants and the Research Council in all matters concerning the grant evaluation procedure.
